Tummy Tuck
Tummy tuck is a wonderful way to get back in shape and get a thin waist. Ideal candidates are the ones with an abdominal wall skin and fat excess, wrinkles and with abdominal muscle laxity.
Most important causes of abdominal wall deformity are
- Previous pregnancies in women.
- Sudden and excess weight loss.
- Bariatric Surgery for weight loss.
- Fat mal distribution.
- Previous gynecological and abdominal wall surgeries.
Operation
We use bikini incision, which means that the incisions are placed in such a manner that they are not visible even if a bikini is worn.
- The upper abdominal wall is undermined and advanced lower down.
- The excess skin and fat is removed.
- Muscles are tightened to give a thin waist.
Post operative
The patient is generally discharged the same evening. On occasion the patient may be admitted for overnight stay if necessary.
The day after discharge from the hospital, you are advised to carry on all normal activities. The post operative pain is usually moderate and well controlled with the prescribed pain medications. Vigorous activity is allowed after 4 to 6 weeks.
