Fat over chest wall in males can be a source of embarrassment during outdoor activities, such as swimming.
Liposuction
Liposuction is a surgical technique to remove unwanted fat from specific areas of the body, including the face, neck, upper arm, trunk, abdomen, thighs, knees, and calves.
Liposuction is not a substitute for weight reduction but a method for removing localized deposits of fatty tissue that do not respond to diet or exercise.
The most common presenting complaint is a bulge, whether in the sub mental region, lower abdomen, hips, flanks, or thighs.
Liposuction can be combined with other surgical procedures, such as face lift, tummy tuck, or thigh lift procedures to tighten the loose skin.
Procedure
Liposuction is performed by using a hollow metal cannula that is inserted through extremely small skin incisions, about 1/2 a cm long.
The cannula is attached to a vacuum source which provides the suction needed to remove the fat.
We use “Tumescent technique” which involves the infiltration of fluids containing local anesthetics. This reduces post operative discomfort and bruising.
Post operative
If more than 3000ml of fat is removed, overnight stay at the hospital and observation with intravenous fluids and electrolytes becomes necessary.
Support Garments
Support garments are worn for about 4 to 6 weeks. Normal activity is allowed after the first day but rigorous activity is after 4 to 6 weeks only.

Abdomen
Chest
Neck
Fat at neck area (double chin) can be easily removed by liposuction.
